The decomposition of protein

in the rumen is affected by a great many of different factors.

Forage ingested herbal enzymes, the specific protein degradability of each single component, but also the composition of the ration itself are pivotal criteria for the intensity of the bacterial protein decomposition in the rumen.

This "bacterial break down" will be more intensive in rations with a high concentration of rumen fermentable starch than in rations high in crude fibres.

The bacterial protein break down into amino acids can be decreased by:

the selection of components with a low protein degradability that could add to reduce the rapid decomposition of protein compounds in the rumen into amino acids.
